The Center for Precision Environmental Health (CPEH) has established Baylor College of Medicine a national leader in environmental health sciences research, ranking #1 in Texas and #11 nationally in the field. CPEH researchers work at the intersection of genetics, environmental health, and data science, advancing research in areas such as gene-environment interactions to improve health and prevent diseases such as cancer, autism, neurodegenerative disease, preterm birth, and other conditions influenced by our environment. That work is sustained through major interinstitutional awards, including the NIH P30 Gulf Coast Center for Precision Environmental Health and an NIH T32 Training Program in Precision Environmental Health Sciences, which is training the next generation of environmental health scientists.
